Home page Beattie on Low Fell

Sale Fell

Starting point: Lay-by St Margaret's Church  (NY 190301)  Distance: 2.9 miles  Ascent: 850'

A perambulation of Sale Fell.  An easy stroll offering superb views of the Skiddaw range over Bassenthwaite Lake.

Route: AW's route on to Sale Fell starting at St Margaret's church rather than at Bass Lake Station (now closed and demolished).  Ascend Sale Fell and follow the ridge to the subsidiary summit of Lothwaite with superb views across the trench of Bassenthwaite.  Here turn W on a path that leads back to the starting point via a delightful terrace walk.  Pass through the churchyard and descend to the road.
