Date: Thursday 24th February 2011
This is always a lovely walk, especially on this day when the light was so good for photographs. The crossing from Tilberthwaite into Little Langdale is a delightful low-level walk of exceptional beauty. Route: Park at Tilberthwaite and walk along a quiet lane to High Tilberthwaite Farm. Here, take a quarry track, which leads over minor heights into Little Langdale. Descend to cross Slaters Bridge and continue to The Three Shires Inn, where refreshments may be enjoyed. Retrace steps, turning left in a lane that leads to a footbridge and ford across the River Brathay. A signed bridleway through Moss Rigg Wood and past old slate quarries leads back to the starting point.
